Last summer, our team at Surroundings Interiors began working on a home in Margate, New Jersey that had recently been purchased as a spec home — a newly built property designed for resale. While the structure was solid, the interiors felt dated and didn’t reflect how the homeowners planned to live in the space.
What started as a small refresh quickly grew into a full-home update.
After walking through the home together, we reimagined nearly every detail — including a new kitchen, updated trim, new flooring, fresh paint, door hardware, and lighting. The result is a cohesive interior that feels current, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed for the way they will live.

The homeowners host family almost every weekend, often welcoming 10–12 people at a time, including grandchildren. The design needed to feel elevated while remaining durable and functional for everyday life.
We focused on creating a neutral palette layered with texture, subtle color, and carefully selected furnishings and accessories. The goal was to add visual interest while keeping the home calm, livable, and welcoming.
Throughout the project, the homeowners trusted us to think creatively and push the design further — allowing us to introduce custom touches and refined details that bring the entire home together.
